Almost not funny. As a professional in the senior health care industry, this is not far from the truth of what we have right now. The national average for a nursing home patient is 3 years. How long does medicare pay? 100 days. I suppose after that a person could pay themselves. At around $75,000 a year, and a social security income of $1200.00 a month, the numbers just don’t add up.

I sat with a 71 year old Vance country resident this week. She recieves $600.00 from Social Security. $96.50 is taken out for part B Medicare. Her mortgage payment is $550.00 a month.
Talk about Quality of life. Lucky for her, one of her children lives with her and helps out. Unfortunately, I can not help her, she will sit with a medicaid worker, and they will determin how to sell her assets off one by one so she will be destitute enough to qualify for Medicaid.

Is that the type of health care we want, where the government decides how “rich” we are allowed to be and still recieve the so called Public option? When will Washington realize that they are going to run out of Americans willing to pay for all of this. Every Social program added to the mix, increases the number of benefit seekers, and reduces the number of benefit payors.
